Not really. The dad see’s he has potential and more than likely knows his wife is targeting him, but wants to see if he can overcome the trials as well as become a leader. Can’t do that if you ALWAYS have someone looking over your shoulder and giving you help every single time you need it. Sometimes you have to bang your head against the wall to make progress.
