Cant you learn both blacksmithing and be a Bowyer? He’s the mc for God’s sake he can be anything he wants like Jack of All Trades with 100% mastery in every category.
Well.. convenience, like being a blacksmith yes it’s all about metalwork sure.. All you really need to do is to be able for example to make an axe head.. but if you’re in the art of blacksmithing you’re likely doing it to customize in the day of industrialization.. Your main goal is quality, otherwise you’d just go to the hardware store to buy an axe.. Well, if somoene is going to pay you $300 or $400 for an axe.. They probably expect it to have a good handle and sheath.. Which requires knowing how to woodwork and work with leather say.. For making a really good axe head may be %80 of the work but putting that work into a good sheeth and handle can make the world of difference in justifying that selling price.. Even if you rightfully should sell the axehead for that price..
Benefit of a game like this would lay in the fact that real world skills would translate to in game ability. I’d have an absolute field day if there was a game like this in my life time- probably drive the devs insane with someone running around doing lapidary, blacksmithing, and white smithing, and taking occasional stops for basic carpentry and wood work.

… why would a blacksmith know anything about making bows? That’s what a bowyer is for.
