See what I told you? This MC is rarely kill anyone directly. Even the most villain, he was still let them go, thinking they will change. If you read from chapter 1, how many times he killed people? Just 1. The dark clan. The rest? He let them go by crippled or beated them.

They sent him back because he had the best potential for growth, since he was almost at their lvl despite coming to the abyss 20 years after them. They are his beloved friends and comerades, with whom he fought for life and humanity. He is just trying to follow their guidance while being struggling between absolute forgiveness and ruthlessness.
