Umbrella guy has some of the best char dev in the entire story!
he went from lone shark/thief/gambler/conman/asshole pretending to be the MC’s friend while extorting him, then he got his ass whooped & lost all his wealth/status & gave up his evil ways in order to learn martial arts. even though he was desperate to learn some high level martail arts the MC possessed in order to shed his past shame and reinvent himself as a proud legit martial artist, he still respected the MC’s lesson to use the umbrella.
he swung that shit 10’s of thousands of times and was willing to risk his life in order to protect the girl he likes which he would never have done in the past.
he also wants to tell her he likes her but he knows he’s not on her level status wise or in martial arts so he needs to level up before he can tell her that he wants to sling some dick at her
