after he regressed he needed to heal his sick body 1st, then he had to go find the 1st manual in the mountains to unlock his potential for quick learning.
it was only through going to different places that he was able to piece together the hidden connection his clans arts had with the other top sects and demonic arts to put it all together. not to mention he went from cripple to the top martial prodigy in a matter of months, factor in having to deal with the guy trying to take his soul + canceling his engagement + stealing the demonic flower etc.
his biggest obstacle was having little internal energy which is something that takes literal years to cultivate unless you have some 1000 year old snow ginseng or some other mega ultra rare pills/elixirs that give internal energy.
in the end it wouldn’t have mattered if he had spent 5 years training his martial arts in seclusion because the chick he fought was a MASTER and at that level what matters most is the cumulative years of internal energy you have on tap, he was only able to survive because his ghost homie gave him everything his body could handle which was far from the 180 years he would get in the deal. my guess? idk 30 years? he was able to use his strongest attack + all the internal energy his vessel could physically take and all he could manage was trading moves and getting knocked the fuck out
