I’m starting to hate when these stories had a patriarch that is one of, if not the most, powerful people in the series but make them useless. Either through power restrictions, flawed logic, or just bad judgement. So he followed the mad emperors familial logic but avoided the madness part? Why couldn’t he use his overwhelming strength as a show of force to enact the family law or new ones if needed? Hate the logic in these stories
