the fact that some elder were forced to join the rebellion because venerable shi organized it by himself with the other sect, that the grand elder is not part of the rebellion and he will protect his disciple / the rest of the group. that all this chapter was about nothing more. do we need to be told that venerable shi is greedy for power ? no so its pointless, was all the talk about how he couldnt help and had to play along was necessary ? hell no
