Why are they treating a scum like Amy like the main heroine. She did awful things to him as a kid and took pleasure when he looked pitiful. When she met him in school she tried to blackmail him and on the first day of him bringing her coffee she again took pleasure in seeing his pitiful face. She has yet to apologise or make up for what she’s done. Shes pure scum and no amount of “character development” will change that
She didnt even do anything, she didnt even intentionally bully him in the early chapters anyways, she never even did anything wrong after that one single time
fr they don’t read. complaining like they even know how they use magic. going on rambling about random bullshit like some geniuses that graduated at harvard.
I get the frustration, but I think you’re judging her arc too early. Yes, Amy treated him badly , that’s not being defended. But that’s literally the foundation of her character development. Flawed, even cruel characters who grow are far more compelling than ones who were good from the start.
She’s already shown moments that contradict the “pure scum” label — whether it’s hesitation, small acts of consideration toward him, or shifts in how she sees him. That’s not nothing. and rushing to write her off before her arc is complete is like dropping a book halfway and saying the ending is bad.
Character development doesn’t erase the past, it builds on it. That’s the whole point.
