A front count is known as a margrave. A marquise is typically a landed Noble with territory smaller than a duchy but more power than a count. A margrave rules a vast stretch of land roughly the size of a duchy but distanced from the proper lands of the ruling family. While they technically rank on the same level as any ordinary marquis they usually have the same authority as a duke because they have to raise large personal armies to protect the crown’s authority
