even good translators have it mostly hard to translate what gender there was mentioned. as much as i know, in china the word for him and her is the same and you can just differnate it in the full sequence with the context.
as example, it is as if you would use it for males and famals, “it walked the road and meet it”, now guess their gender.
as much as i know, is this the problem most translators of chinese comics have.
he she and it are are written like “ta” in chinese language and pronounced the same, the chinese character for them is different but because of the ta thing ig they just pick a random one or something especially if its machine translated
One of my pet peeves about these stories is that the main characters get lost in their own world due to sudden information. Does everything happen within a few seconds mentally or are the other characters who were talking to him and watching him go from bored to ecstatic and are wondering what’s wrong with him? Does time freeze or something?
it’s more of a visualization for a mental process. It’s no problem to just read it in the novel, for example, but to give us a frame of him looking at them, slight surprise, and his gaze drift off, while flooding the frames with nothing but speech bubbles? Yeah, that’s boring lol. Good rule of thumb is, whenever you see the background become kinda abstract, consider it being a visual representation for thought process.

And there is the girl who likes him for no reason

this is probably another sexist novel. queen is female by nature. why is the mc called the ice queen ‘little guy’?
D9rtmund
I think that’s because Chinese translation are always shit
