Well it depends on the power levels of the cultivation system.
The ki/mana/chi/whatever shield was "invisible" when the darts hit so we can assume it's a permanent thing, and even if it isn't cultivators usually have inhuman reflexes so it's not really unbelievable that he could stop bullets, he is fast enough to leave afterimages and we can't assume he was putting any effort in it.
Also cultivators usually take waaaay more damage than bullets would do without issues, ya know mountain destroying sword falls from the sky MC is fine, kind of sht.
