It’s to keep him from completely leaving his peers behind and to make the later introduced “gods” still seem strong. It’s the same with the money system: it’s changed from gold to school points to merit points, and now he doesn’t even buy anything.
The more you try make sense of the numbers (exp, merit, stats, the description of certain skills etc), the less enjoyable this manwha becomes, its an amazing read, but its just slop at the end of the day. Take everything with a grain of salt and this becomes 10x more enjoyable
