They're not generic, they're biblical. Eve and Lilith are both wives of Adam, the first man. Lilith was supposedly created equal to Adam because they came from the same source, so she refused to be subservient to him and divorced him, then moved on to give birth to demons. Eve was created from Adam's ribs, and was therefore his perfect little sub… or something like that. Anyway, both Eve and the Tower of Babel are important parts of the book of Genesis, and while Lilith is only mentioned elsewhere, she's still tangentially related through Adam. The names are both very fitting and topical for the story.
