The more powerful they are, the more human-like their traits become. I understand it’s part of the fan service, but the fact that all the spirit beasts in the sanctuaries are female doesn’t make much sense. At this point, the story gets boring. I know the premise is to improve their genes… and to do that, they have to kill a lot of beasts, but it gets tedious and repetitive. They haven’t mentioned their ancestor again, their younger sister hasn’t reappeared, and the same goes for the mystery of their father’s death. It’s like 150 chapters of them doing the same thing every single day… thankfully, it’s almost over.
