It’s not about long or short. The cutoffs between chapters are wrong. They are almost never interesting cliffhangers. Chapters end only because they fullfilled their words/panels quota.
For example, in this one.
1. A spaceship descends – OK nothing wrong with it.
2. Girl from Lu Sheng’s home world is amazed by the spaceship. OK, that’s a believable reaction; however, that doesn’t tell US to be amazed, since she’s just a tourist.
3. Wolf thingy is shown. I am fairly sure that it’s the first time such a shield is shown, but please do correct me if I am wrong. Since it’s unknown, and we don’t even get its name, this is meaningless, and could be done without.
4. The guide is surprised and fearsome because of the spaceship. But there isn’t any actual show of force or conflict, so why should we care?
We MAY probably expect some conflict to develop next. But that’s not how cliffhangers should be made, no, sir. A good cliffhanger should generate some anxiety on the reader to get to know what happens next. But that’s not the case here, nor is in many other chapters. The result is that chapter endings feel forced and short!
While, in truth, the manhwa does advance pretty fast. Especially considering that (as I heard), the source material is over.
@IceSandslash I disagree, I like when a chapter ends on a calm note. I dislike the trend where every chapter has to end on some suspenseful moment so that viewers are desperately waiting to see what happens next. I will agree however that the way this series ends chapters at times makes it feel like they cut a chapter in half. We are reading and it just ends abruptly out of nowhere.
Im gonna complain and beg for more/ longer chapters anyway whenever I love a series, but I agree we are eating good with this series and shouldn’t complain.
